Published on August 18, 2023

Client: XYZ Industrial Equipment

Scenario: XYZ Industrial Equipment specializes in manufacturing heavy machinery used in construction and mining. They produce large excavators, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment that is sold to clients worldwide. Each piece of equipment is complex and requires proper identification for maintenance, tracking, and safety purposes.

Challenge: XYZ Industrial Equipment needed a durable and long-lasting labeling solution that could withstand harsh environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and rough handling. Traditional labels were often fading, peeling, or deteriorating over time, leading to confusion during maintenance and hindering equipment tracking.

Solution: To address this challenge, XYZ Industrial Equipment decided to implement laser-engraved stainless steel labels.

Implementation:

  1. Material Selection: STRYKER recommended using high-quality stainless steel with appropriate thickness to ensure durability and resistance to corrosion.
  2. Design and Marking: XYZ Industrial Equipment provided the necessary information to be engraved on each label, including equipment ID, serial number, manufacturing date, and safety guidelines. STRYKER used specialized software to design and layout the information in a clear and readable format.
  3. Laser Engraving Process: The stainless steel labels were loaded into the laser engraving machine. The machine was programmed to follow the design specifications provided. A high-powered laser beam was focused on the stainless steel surface, removing a thin layer of material and creating precise, permanent engravings.
  4. Quality Control: Each engraved label was inspected for accuracy and quality. Any inconsistencies or errors were corrected before proceeding further.
  5. Attachment: The laser-engraved stainless steel labels were attached to the equipment using strong 3M adhesive, ensuring they would remain in place even in demanding conditions.

Benefits:

  1. Durability: Laser-engraved stainless steel labels were highly resistant to wear, chemicals, and extreme weather conditions. They remained legible and intact over the equipment’s lifetime.
  2. Identification: The engraved labels allowed for quick and accurate equipment identification during maintenance, reducing downtime and potential errors.
  3. Branding: The labels displayed the XYZ Industrial Equipment logo and brand, reinforcing brand identity and professionalism.
  4. Compliance and Safety: Engraved safety guidelines and instructions were clear and permanent, enhancing safety compliance for equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
  5. Longevity: The engraved markings remained intact for the entire lifecycle of the equipment, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

In this case study, laser-engraved stainless steel labels provided XYZ Industrial Equipment with a reliable and effective solution for their labeling needs. The durability, readability, and permanence of the labels addressed their challenges in equipment tracking, maintenance, and safety.
